Meet John Huber of Huber Properties, LLC

John Huber is the driving force behind the Markets at Choto and the founder of Huber Properties, LLC, a real estate company dedicated to excellence in first-class developments in the state of Tennessee. A native East Tennessean, he was born and raised in Knoxville and is a graduate of the University of Tennessee.

During his studies, John discovered he had an innate passion for real estate. That passion led him to begin his real estate career in 1996 by earning his Affiliate Broker’s license. John then greatly expanded his knowledge of the industry in 1999 when he received his contractor’s license, followed by receiving his Broker’s license in 2004 and subsequently opening his real estate firm, Southern Signature Real Estate. John attributes his drive for business to his late father.

“I learned the value of hard work from my father, who owned several successful businesses in Knoxville for over 40 years,” he said. “Through working with my dad, he instilled in me that ‘the only way to predict the future is to create it yourself.’ Thanks to this approach, I have created multiple successful ventures that coincide with my passion for real estate development.”

Following his passion, John has accumulated more than two decades of experience in the development, construction, and brokerage segments of real estate. He has been involved in many successful developments in addition to the Markets at Choto. John’s broad spectrum of experience gives Huber Properties an edge in today’s competitive development market.

“My goal for Huber Properties is for it to be set apart from other firms by embracing new and innovative ideas while staying grounded in the traditional values it was founded upon,” he said.

When concepting the Markets at Choto, specifically, John saw a unique opportunity to provide the people of a largely underserved area with quality offerings right in their community. For John, it’s not about just developing an available area. It’s about providing the people of that locale with what they need as well as what they want.

“We’ve positioned the Markets at Choto in an ideal location in West Knoxville that has been steadily growing year after year. What makes this location so ideal is that it’s situated in an area with very little (if any) competition for several miles,” John explains. “In the past, residents of the Choto area had to drive up to 25 miles round trip to shop, dine, or even get basic medical services. The Markets at Choto provides an untapped consumer demographic with convenient, high-quality services right in their backyard.”

Aside from his real estate prowess, John is also dedicated to several philanthropic endeavors. He is heavily involved with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) and the organization’s goal to help find a cure for blood cancer. In fact, John was named Knoxville’s Leukemia and Lymphoma’s Man of the Year in 2019 for his record-breaking fundraising campaign.

John also feels a strong calling to support the less fortunate of East Tennessee by developing more affordable housing. Through his collaboration with Volunteer Housing Partnership (a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization), John is able to leverage his knowledge and connections in the real estate and construction industries to provide safe, clean, and affordable housing for those in need.
